PIER FISHING:

A front picture of the pier building!

We are proud to be one of the few piers still left standing in NC that offers our tourists and guests all the accommodations needed for being able to relax while on vacation! We have an indoor grill, rentals, campground, pier for those die hard fishermen and nine miles of beautiful beach for those who love basking in the sun, and maybe a swim to cool off!

People usually want to know what kind of fish are caught off of the pier? And that still remains to be one of the hardest questions for us to answer! Considering that when you ocean fish; there have been many things caught never imagined; from off of the Holden Beach Pier over the years! There still remains many diverse types of fish caught! While some fish for flounder, whiting, and things like pompano! We have those who love to come down every year to restock their freezers with spots to eat over the winter time!

We also have those who love the bigger fish and do it for sport! Over the years I have seen king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, black drum, hammerhead shark, cobia and many big game fish caught from off of the pier! The fact is; is that when you cast your hook into the water; you never know what you will find on the other end of your line when pulling it up! Sometimes it is quite a surprise; and some of the most memorable moments have been when a child reels up a shark or big fish! The looks on their faces says it all!

NATURE LOVERS:

Those thrill seekers would love to see some of the stingrays caught from the pier! Sometimes it is nothing to see a huge ray pulled from the water or to find an octopus on the end of your line! There are times you can look down and see rays the size of car hoods swimming around the pier! Nature lovers will not only enjoy the different types of sea life you can see some days while standing on the pier; but will also enjoy the different types of birds! Some days you can see very large pelicans perching on top of the pier lights! Not to mention all the sea gulls, sandpipers, and I can't leave out the pigeons that nest under the pier! In the fall it's not uncommon to look up and see the wild ducks flying overhead!

There are those who like to see the big turtles during certain times of the year that come up onto the beach to lay their eggs! It's not uncommon for most families to have diverse interests! We are located on one of the best family oriented beaches found on the eastern seaboard! In the winter we strive to continue to stay open! We have had winter hours for years while other piers were closed for the winter! We have regulars who like a hot cup of coffee while enjoying a good breakfast before they start their day! It's nice to be able to go one place and have something for everyone within the general area! No one usually wants to travel too much once they have reached their destination!

If you are looking for a good place to go and settle back; It's nice to know that you can either fish a little, walk the beach day or night! And get a meal without having to drive for miles once you get here! Not to mention that while fishing, we also have campground campsite rentals for those who love the outdoors and staying in their campers while they are here! Even though we are open in the winter time; we do close earlier because this is a seasonal business and in the winter evenings the locals are doing homework and taking care of their kids and family demands! You can see more about our campground and rentals on the campground page! Thanks!
